What is it you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

Retire? New career?

What is your first instantaneous memory of Parkview?

Overwhelming, awefully big and sooo much glass

Who was your favorite teacher and/or class and why?

That's odd, no one comes to mind. I do remember Mr. Rykowski saying, "and you plan to go to college?" and Mr. Gibson saying over and over "discretion is the better part of valor." I never quite understood why he kept saying that.

What was your most embarrassing moment at Parkview?

Where to start...

What was your favorite song and who sang it?

No recall

Describe your car and favorite destination:

Driving the family Ford to the lake in the summer was just about the best.

How have you changed since Parkview?

Nothing to prove, at least I don't feel that way anymore

What careers have you pursued?

Those that I liked the most:

Medical Director for a hospital and alot of programs around the countyl

Being involved in hospital acquisitions and mergers

Writing software to evaluate brain electrical functioning for "derailed executives" in Silicon Valley

What has been your most exciting or interesting experience?

Six months as a lay monk in a Buddhist Monestary

Building my hospital in New Orleans

What do you do these days to have fun?

The pillar of my day is my practice of Zen Buddhism

Keeping my friendships from around the country active.

Alot of tennis

Finish writing a book on The Cognitive Neuroscience of Zen and Addiction

What is it you still hope to do/accomplish?

Lets leave that chapter open

Comments:

Wow, 50 years! Sometimes I think how it might have been different in school if I knew then what I know now. It feels like I spent a long time in school, but I cherish as much or more the friends and times at Parkviews.

Now that I am growed up, I have become a neurologist, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. Presently, I am in private practice in St. Louis.
Over the years I have done a number of things in alot of different places, including building hospitals and investment banking. During difficult times I had some jobs that are nothing to brag about.

I am widowed and have two step children. I plan to practice and teach for a few more years before I retire to indulge my passion for sailing.

I am deeply saddened by Don's passing.  During the years we had developed a friendship that meant a great deal to me.  He was truly selfless in what he offered to the frienship and how he went out of his way to be of assistance. My condolence to his family and others with whom he had similar relationships. .
